We definitely felt much more refreshed this morning waking up to the sunlight creeping in through a crack in the curtains. In this mountainous region it was always refreshing in the morning which gives you a break from the brutal heat before midday hits. We enjoyed breakfast and unleashed the marmite again today, which gave that really nice 'home' feeling.
We were debating leaving tomorrow but we had that feeling that we really wanted to explore things in the region. Unfortunately to do this you need to ride a scooter or pay extortionate amounts for taxis and trips. None of us had rode a scooter and we felt very apprehensive about trying one. A couple of days ago we had found a scooter training session for 200 baht but we wondered would it be worth it.
In the end, most of the day consisted of reading and chilling out, boring I know but well needed and when surrounded by such beauty, you sometimes have to just sit back and appreciate it! Laura was enjoying the sun whilst swinging in the hammock outside our hut so I ventured out for lunch and brought Laura some noodles back. En route, a boy approached me with a flyer about a party at a bar in town tonight. I mentioned it to Laura and Kratos who were both intrigued and gave it a maybe.
After our evening meal, we fancied a drink but something different from beer. We located a cheap cocktail joint and enjoyed some refreshing beverages that were on the offer board. As it always tends to, one cocktail turned into three and we were well on our way! The 'so-called party' was just down the road and a few people were heading in that direction. We followed at roughly 10:30pm but couldn't exactly hear the party banging, so to speak.
The bar turned out to be practically empty with a few travellers sitting around the edge. The only action seemed to be at the pool table where westerners were challenging this local pool hustler lady. Who was obviously very good and was taking the money from bets with ease! We sat at the bar and managed to squeeze in one happy hour drink before it ended. Then the prices doubled to practically being stupid.... Laura and Kratos were pretty happy though as they bonded over shared music tastes.
I got a game of pool in against these Dutch boys and happily wiped the floor with them.... Slightly regretting that I didn't put a wager on. During the night we were also debating the possibility of renting scooters and knew it would be wise to go to the training school. I guess we would wait and see what tomorrow brings and how our heads would feel.
On arriving back at our bungalow we were met by the resorts dog who had taken up residence on our veranda... Such a cute little thing curled up by the door.
