I flew in to Brisbane Airport on a rainy evening, though it was far warmer than Melbourne. I left the airport and caught the Airtrain to Roma Street station in the heart of downtown Brisbane. Outside the train it was so dark I saw almost nothing of outside, except for the odd set of street lights and the constant downpour of rain.
I arrived at Roma street station and exited down the southern street exit. I turned right heading for Upper Roma Street and Brisbane City YHA. It was 10:30pm when I finally reached my destination, and checked in for the evening. I headed straight for my room, eager to pass the evening away and see the guys in the morning.
I woke up at 9:00am and got breakfast in the restaurant downstairs called Drifters. It was as I was sitting outside, devouring my bacon and egg sandwich in the sunshine that Stuart Stubbs came waltzing through the door, followed quickly by Jess, Scott and Lauren.
The guys were fantastic to see, and we spent half an hour saying hi, hugging and laughing. We headed in and dropped our bags off in the luggage storage area before we decided to head out and explore Brisbane. The first point of call was to find somewhere to get some food and drink supplies in, and so we set off in search of a Coles.
After looking on Google, it looked like the nearest Coles was inside a shopping centre off Elizabeth Street in the centre of town. We walked down and began collecting supplies, before heading back to the Hostel. We then waited around for Check in to open outside on the rooftope of the hostel, when we were finally able to gauge the location of the hostel and its views.
After checking in, we spent the evening getting all caught up on our lives, cooking tea and consuming a fair amount of alcohol!
Good times!
