Waking up on the 15th I realised there was only 2 days left with Stu and Jess before they headed back home. We got up, checked out of the hostel and took some final photos of Axel before heading on the motorway back to brisbane.
Leaving Surfers Paradise was actually really funny, as we rolled down the windows and had Paradise City blasting out the speakers. We certainly attracted attention! It took us about an hour to get back to Brisbane and the Brisbane City YHA where the guys would be spending their final night.
After dropping the guys off, the first order of business was to return the car to the forecourt. Me and Stu drove over, dropped the car off and said goodbye to Axel for good. I was relieved the car hadnt really had any problems while we had it, even if it was sitting rather low on its suspension when the 5 of us plus the 5 suitcases were in.
We caught the bus back to the YHA, and met up with Scott, Jess and Lauren. We then decided to spend the rest of the day at Streets Beach. Upon arrival, the first order of business was burying Stu in the sand. After that was successfully achieved, it was time to build an awesome volcano.
Stu, Scott and I constructed an epic volcano, before deciding to convert it into the corner of a giant sand castle. The girls looked on in amusement as we spent most of the day creating a truely massive sandcastle. We started to attract the attention of passers by, who stopped to take photos of us. We even had a couple of admirers who started castles of their own beside us. It was hilarious!
After more than 4 hours of sand castle building, the next order of business was to go swimming! It was actually the first time I had been swimming since I got to Australia, and it was a great laugh. Me and Stu managed to launch Scott into the air which resulted in an awesome photo on Scotts camera.
As the day drew to a close, we headed back to the hostel to get ready for our last evening all together. I must admit that it was around this point that it finally hit me just how much I was about to miss the guys being here. The previous 2 weeks had been completely epic, and to face them leaving was a very hard prospect.
Scott suggested that we have a light evening playing pool and he would put the photos on the TV in the games room for us all to look at. It was an awesome evening, and I really enjoyed looking over the fantastic memories we had all made.
