We have just finished our 1st weekend exploring Antigua. The 1st task was to print off some of the photos we had take of the families to give to them...this should have been a simple task but took us all morning!! Via internet cafe, buying blank CD´s, computer not being able to burn CD´s, having to resize and email all images to ourself to put on different computer to burn and finally taking to a Kodak shop...trust me this took a long time!

Once we had all our photos Ian then went to the bank to complain (in spanish) about an ATM that didn´t give you money but took it out your account (a rare but evil breed of ATM). Meanwhile I went to the market to spend the money that the evil ATM didn´t give us.

I was in heaven, the market is HUGE!!!!! Although it took a while to get used to the people hassling you constantly. Though I did come up with a cunning phrase that seemed to get them to leave me alone..."Estoy solo mirando a hora, necisito esperar para mi esposa, el tiene el dinero!..." unfortunately Ian turned up so it no longer worked!! I also got quite good at bartering and even got the price down by half! But this often magically happened just by walking away, hearing cries of "OK OK, 80 quetzals, only today, only for you señora!". If only that was a special price from me, but he will soon find another señora and another special price...sad but true.

We then went to the cathedral, which is mostly ruins after the earthquake in 1773. Then relaxed in the Bagel Barn watching a free film on the history of the Mayans.
