Day 12 - 18 Nov 14 - Inverness
We set off at 730am. Having checked out from Glasgow Pacific Quay (Premier Inn), we headed towards Macdonald for breakfast. Denise went to report her loss of wallet at the police station and joined us thereafter.
We left Macdonald at 9am and began our drive towards Inverness. It was a day of scenic drive, marked by spontaneous stops along the way to capture photos of the breathtaking views.
Our first stop was at Village of Luss in Loch Lomond. I was just taking in the view of the pristine lake in its wide expanse and the thick layer of fluffy clouds, partially covering the majestic mountains that was set against the canvas of a bright and clear blue sky. We also saw groups of Mandarin ducks on the banks of Loch Lomond and a couple of seagulls flying past them. Le was initially sleeping and Emma was nursing Yu. It was too good a view to be missed that I had to run back to the car and get her to see it for herself. In the end, we were all at the lake and we took pictures with the stunning view as the backdrop.
Whilst on the way up the Scottish Highlands, we stopped, this time, to capture shots of the plains with pockets of forested trees and the sad-looking arid grasses. However, the mountains that stood at a distance made good the view to be photo-worthy. Oh, we also did jumpshots and Francis, Peiks and I drank a can of Carling beer each while admiring the view.
Our next stop was at Glencoe but it was closed during winter. Disappointed, we drove off. It was already 130pm.
We drove on and finally took a break for lunch at Fort William. On our way, we, in fact, stopped by several potential lunch venues but they were all closed. So, by the time we got to Fort William, it was already 230pm. We had our lunch at The Crofter Bar & Restaurant. I had cajun chicken which tasted quite good.
We left the restaurant at about 4pm. The sky was beginning to look dark. The surrounding mountains all looked like silhouettes against the dimly lit sky. We were all feeling tired. Yu was accidentally woken up by me and he cried non-stop for about close to half an hour. Finally, when we arrived at Ardmeanach Bed & Breakfast, our B&B for the next two nights, he calmed down. It was 6pm in the evening.
Dinner was at The Kitchen Brasserie. It was about 15 minutes walk from the B&B that we were staying. I didn't had much appetite because of the fatigue and was still feeling quite full from my lunch. So, Emma and I shared a plate of sirloin steak and a bowl of mushroom soup. And we ended off dinner with apple and cinnamon crumble and I had a glass of champagne cocktail.
We came back to the hotel at 9pm and rested.
