Helen's Elective
Hello everyone
I hope you all had a good weekend. I thought I would just post a quick updated to let you know how I was getting on.
Friday
On friday night Amy and I managed to get invited to a 7 course chinese banquet at a very posh hotel next to the Hilton.
The doctors invited us to some inter hospital renal meeting. We thought it would just be in another hospital and sould go just to be keen. So we were a little bit supprised to trun up at this hotel. The renal stuff was ok but the food was good. I had to eat it all with chopsticks though. I think i did slightly better than Amy who managed to throw her dinner half way across the table though. I don't think amy one minded though they just thought it was funny.
Saturday
Saturday was our trip to chinatown. The area itself is quite small but it is a bit crazy will people trying to sell you anything from fake watches to fruit from little stalls. Outside the market the shops are a little bit more traditional but i think they are propably set up that way to cater for tourists.
I had some good food in china town, noodles and chinese vegetables from a little resteraunt that played Glen Miller. This might sond a bit wierd but it was set up to reflect how Chinatown was originally.
Whilst in the area we also visited the coloinal district. This is the area occupied by most of the British population who lived here in the Empire. It has some quite impresive buildings and even a cricket pitch.
Sunday
Sunday we went to the lake gardens, Dad this is the eqivelent to Kew. The green space makes a big contrast to the rest of the city where there is very little. It made for quite nice walk, lots of big exotic plats and flowers to see. Dad it is a bit like the plam house but without a roof.
Anyway i have probably bored you enough by now so see you all later.
Helen
