Happy Monday morning to you all! I'm currently at Dar es Salaam airport awaiting my flight to Arusha.
My foot is a lot better today, cleaned and wrapped it last night. Most of yhe small spikes have now dissolved, so the're are only a few left in there. Arnold and Rich asked if I am this unlucky at home, but I'm really not, I just can't believe it. Hopefully that will be the end of my bad luck streak!
The trip to the airport this morning was eventful, traffic here always is.... Yes they have traffic lights, but they certainly don't use them! They just drive. The're a're police at the traffix lights controlling the traffic, which is ridiculous, but it's the only way the cars will stop!
There are street sellers who walk in between the two lanes and will sell whatever they can... footballs, cashew nuts, tyres, wallets, hazardous triangles, literally anything! When I say there is two lanes, it doesn't mean the drivers use them, they like to just drive down the middle of the road and are constantly honking their horns for people to get out of the way! Completely different to home. They literally just don't care here.
Another glorious day here! About 26℃ already and it's only 10:15! I hope Arusha isn't much colder than Dar, I was just getting used to the heat!
The food here is delicious, everything I have tried has been so full of flavour. Last night I had rice mixed with veg, which sounds simple and a bit boring, but it was the best rich mixed with veg that I've ever had! The main bulk of food here is rice. Arnold's freezer consists of ice cream and one or two frozen packs of veg that have been prepared. There are no tins, everything is made from scratch. A much healthier way of living. Arnold has a maid who does the main cooking in the house, and he also has a chef who does breakfast and the occassional dinner. I haven't met the chef yet, but Rich said the food was amazing!
My flight leaves at 11:35 and is only just over an hour, which will be nice. A volunteer from the orphmanage, Andrea, is going to pick me up which will be nice and she is going to show me around prior to ggetting to the orphanage.
Sorry my blogs haven't been much in depth, internet is not great here and so ive just been trying to summarise what I can.
