I got up and got out of bed early this morning, I needed to walk and clear my mind. I started with breakfast at the restaurant and a strong cup of coffee! I went for a short walk which helped clear my mind. The staff at restaurant could tell that I was distressed and asked me everything was okay, I told them what had happened and they said that unfortunately there is not much else that I can do. Phones move very quickly when that have been stolen. I tried to ring the phone and it has now been switched off. I used Arnold's iPad to FaceTime my Mum and Dad, they said that they've now managed to block the phone and my number which is a huge relief! Talking to my parents made me feel so much better, they made me laugh and helped to ease the situation. Dad had said last night to remember that I could get photos from Arnold and Rich. The situation could be worse. I am no longer going to dwell on it, it's not worth it and will only ruin the rest of my day. There's nothing that I can do about it and overthinking about it will not bring the phone back.
Josh and Arnold join me around 11am, the driver was here to take us back to Stone Town. We played a few games of pool and waited for the heavy rain to die down before darting to the car. We had to walk through a few massive puddles, something I didn't think I would do in Zanzibar! We stopped off for some street food on the way through, I had chips whilst the driver, Arnold and Josh had octopus. I had a banging headache this morning and felt slightly sick. Eh arrived in Stone Town shortly after 1pm. The next ferry was due to depart at 3:30pm, but all of the tickets were sold out! Arnold went off to find a street seller whilst Josh and I stayed in the queue in hope that we may be able to get a ticket. Unfortunately, we could only get a ticket for a night boat which takes 8 hours, or wait until tomorrow morning.
Arnold had managed to find tickets for the 3:30pm ferry for himself and Josh. Here, there are different rates for everything dependant on whether you are a resident or a tourist. All of the tickets that the street seller had were for residents but he promised to find me a ticket! He walked us to the port and through security where there was the main ticket office for the ferry. Josh and the street seller spoke to the guys in the office. I gave the street seller my driving licence and he walked off with it, I was a bit unsure about giving it to him but he was using it to know how to spell my name. I was then called into the office where they requested my passport and printed off a ticket for me. They told me that I was very lucky! I paid 60,000 shillings for my ticket, which wasn't as much as I expected to pay. They also managed to squeeze us on to the 2pm ferry, which was really nice of them! We found some space on the floor and were all curled up like her,it's on the floor in the smallest of spaces. The ferry didn't take the water very well and for the first time in my life, I felt sea sick.
I went to the toilet and got a few sick bags from a man sat nearby. I tried to focus on the horizon as I remember dad telling me to do that if I ever felt sick, but it just wasn't helping. Unfortunately sea sickness got the better of me. Where I was do cooped up and sat awkwardly, my stomach muscles were cramping and spazming which was very uncomfortable. The ferry took just over two hours and I was more than glad to get off. I've never felt the way that I did. On the boat, I was going hot and cold, my body was jittering and I couldn't stabilise my eyes to the horizon, it wasn't a nice feeling. Arnold and Josh went to watch the football but I stayed at home. Arnold's Auntie Stella gets sea sick all of the time and so she told me to have some lemon water. It took meanwhile to drink it but it definitely made me feel better and perked me up. I felt slightly hungry so I had a banana as they always help perk me up and brighten my mood when I'm lagging energy. Arnold's mums friend came over with her daughter Milaika, who started dancing to Beyoncé... I was utterly amazed at her dance moves, she's only five years old and can dance 100 times better than me, she can almost rap as good as Jay-Z. Milaika is lovely, and she said that she hopes I feel better soon. I had plain rice for tea and decided that I would brave it and have some beef stew, it was just what I needed, I ended up drinking a cup of the juice, mhmmmm!
Arnold's mum and Stella went to News Cafe but I didn't feel up to it, so I stayed at home relaxing. Arnold returned from watching the football shortly after 9pm. I had a shower which freshened me up and helped ease my headache. We went to the cinema to watch Hercules, it was a fantastic film!
Ire turning home involved going straight to bed and to sleep, I was very tired and needed the sleep to help get rid of my headache. An eventful day. A trip to Zanzibar is never not eventful, at least I didn't step on a sea urchin this time!
Onwards and upwards, tomorrow is the start of a new week.
