Meikles Adventure
Wow a white peacock in the caravan park – what a beauty! It came to show itself off and then found a tree to go perch up on, pretty big bird for perching overhead though – would not like to be in the people's caravan below it that night!
A day in a caravan park today – and not at all exciting caravan park for the kids – Kimberley Entrance Caravan Park – they start getting pretty loud by the end of the day if they’ve been bored to tears that day– oh dear! Had catch up to do via net so we’d stayed in town in a caravan park – urrghh, only to realise Virgin modem don’t work and the Telstra one was out of credit – oopsie!
We went and did shopping and that was about it in a town like Derby on a Sunday – even public pool is closed. Recharge modem – tells us it could take 48hrs - & it did ! Wow what great timing! Sach not at all impressed I think – me neither, but sometimes you just got to learn to give it away on a trip like this, sometimes things just don’t quite work out as you planned when you take on travelling with a home that you’ve got to erect and unpack every day – you’ve just got to learn to not bother about the little things – being clean (not a chance), running water (very rarely), internet (only in the bigger towns-no Nat.Prks)…
Sach has the patience of a saint (a lot of the time) & I can sometimes not help but get worked up about some arbitrary thing, because its hot or the kids are not talking too nicely to us… etc.
Pretty hot day, reached about 36 they said on radio up here on the flats of King Sound – they have 11m tides here, it just looks like there’s no ocean most of the time anywhere near Derby flats.
I did lose Jaz for a little while in this huge caravan park with lots of people in vans. Jaz had had a wee accident and we were just in the toilet washing up and she ran out as I was trying to wash panties in the basin, I yelled for her but by the time I got out and did not see her in front of me I realised that she must have run in the opposite direction of our camp. Got pretty frantic, with me eventually yelling for Jaz down the roads – I got Sach & Tenille but some really nice lady that joined me to search (seen me walk by her van quite a few times) found her somewhere in the middle of a road on the other side of the caravan park looking a little worried and confused – thank goodness for that!
