Day 2
Nine hour drive. Drove to Nashville, Tennessee then north through the Cumberland Mountains. We stopped for the night just north of the Kentucky border at the spectacular Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area, which is part of the US Forest system. Land Between the Lakes is an example of our public lands that are set aside for the enjoyment of all Americans. Michael is quite proud to have been a forest ranger with the US Forest Service for 33+ years managing public lands. And his career continues to pay off (his pension) allowing us to recreate in these preserved natural resources. Woo-hoo!

Kathi Kruithof It's going to be so much fun keeping up with you and learning all about our beautiful country through your experiences. I've said it before, but I'm saying it again. I am so jealous. You and Michael are so fortunate to be able to do this and also to be willing to get the most out of your lives. You earned it and you deserve it. Judie & Mom are coming over tomorrow for corned beef dinner.
