July 16, 2013 Tuesday Day 9 Today we started off on Trans Canada Highway, Hwy 1. Along the highway in various places we drove under arched shaped bridges covered with trees. We learned these are called wildlife overpasses and they are built to allow bears, cougars, wolves, elk, deer, moose and other wildlife to safely cross the highway. July 15, 2013 Monday Day 8 Went to town, Banff, to a coffee shop, then to browse the shops. Next we headed up to Sulphur Mountain to ride the gondola to the top. Climbed steps to the summit observation deck at an elevation of 7,486 feet & the views were spectacular. July 14, 2013 Sunday Day 7 We crossed the border into Alberta about 10:30am. Immediately we saw lush farmland, with grazing cattle & horses. Dotting the landscape were grain elevators (which for some reason, really catch our eye) and a good many bee boxes as well; the bee boxes are painted bright colors, unlike the white ones we saw in the US.
