Day 40
We are loving your comments on our blog. Thank you all so much!
This morning we had a nice rain, it sounds so good on our camper roof (good thing it doesn't leak!) We hung out in our cozy camper, checking email, me resting my knee.
This afternoon we went into Juneau to Taku Smokeries for some canned smoked salmon to take home.
We then drove along the coast out of town both east and west to the end of the road each direction, passing by beaches, harbors, coves, Twin Lakes, Salmon Creek, and Sheep Creek. Next we crossed the bridge over to Douglas Island for different perspectives-to view Mendenhall Glacier, as well as Juneau across Gastineau Channel. Our drive along the coast on Douglas Island took us past forests, waterfalls, Eaglecrest Ski Area. We had views along the way of Juneau across the Channel. We drove until Douglas Highway ended, then back across the bridge to Juneau.
Camper dinner was comfort-food, salad, microwaved frozen lasagna, and warm Italian bread - a little candlelight, ahhh. Made it an early night because we are getting up at 4:00am to catch the ferry to Haines.
