Excellent trip down. Less than 2hrs then quick journey through London to the RAC Club where we met M and H. The two boys came for supper and we had a lovely meal. Wondered again how they got the beautiful Alvis into Reception. Breakfast 8am tomorrow to leave for the station at 9.15 am.

Last morning. Packed up then out walking the city. Went to George Square, the modern art gallery, the Lighthouse, shopping etc. train back very comfortable looking out over frozen Britain. At Wigan it became foggy but safely picked up by Colin. Can thoroughly recommend Glasgow as a city break.

Set off by underground to Kelvingrove Musem. How great was this?? So much to see and do. Loved it! Had lunch there -without John S who had to work. Walked on to the Botanic Gardens-picking up a lady who fell on the disgraeful Glasgow pavements on the way. Lovely hot houses and palm house. Back on the underground to meet J S in a tearoom. Did some art galleries and back to the Hotel. Champagne party in C and Js room before dinner at the Two Fat Ladies. Very good...

Off by train to The Burrell Collection. SO interesting and housed in a most unusual modern building. Unfortunately it is a case of design over utility and it will have to close for 18 months to be reroofed. Had a guided tour from a most informed guy. So helpful. Made our way through the lovely parkland back to the city and had afternoon tea at the Mackintosh designed Willow Tea Rooms on Sochihall Street which are fascinating. Dinner tonight at Gamba. Setting off for our Scotfish break. Lots of evidence of flooding and worse to come we are told over next 24hrs. Great accommodation(1st Class) with plenty of wine!! Met up with the Team,caught up with news and had a lovely meal in the Hotel -the Blythwood. Extremely smart on a quiet square. Only problem is our room has no window and a very strange 'balcony ' which is sort of internal at the bottom of a lift shaft!!!
