After saying goodbye to our cosy wigwam we set off toward the Grand Canyon. Our diary stop, Jack Rabbit Trading Post, was closed so we just got the customary photo riding a hare!
"Standing on a Corner in Winslow Arizona" - well you just have to have your photo taken there. There's a shop opposite that sells Route 66 themed scrapbook papers etc and I'll certainly be needing those!
Next we visited the Meteor Crater which was pretty impressive at 1 mile wide (it didn't look it) and was created 50,000 years ago.
Wandering around Flagstaff for a leg stretch we stumbled upon a jewellery shop which sells pandora style charms and we finally found just what we wanted - a Route 66 bead (Imogen and I have only been looking for four weeks)
Next stop, Grand Canyon.
After checking in we walked to the rim and got our first glimpse of this stunning canyon before settling down for the night. A very hot room - not sure we'll sleep too well....
