After a very hot night (no air conditioning here) we started our walk along the rim trail and the views were just superb. (Dad, you're going to get vertigo from looking at the pictures!)
Imogen just wanted to get closer and closer to the edge.
After about miles we caught the shuttle back for some lunch at Bright Angel Restaurant. We'd looked at the menus last night and, yippee, veggie food!
We all enjoyed some decent food and checked into our rustic little cabin before heading to Tusayan Airport to check in for our helicopter ride over the canyon. I'd booked this and a jeep sunset tour this morning as a little surprise for the loves of my life.
The helicopter ride was superb, with Imogen upfront with pilot and Nick and I in the back. The song Beautiful Day by U2 was playing through the earphones until we flew over the edge of the canyon when 2001 Space Odyssey took over! The different views from the copter were stunning and we all had a great time. The jeep tour was good too although the sunset tonight wasn't brilliant we still enjoyed the moment.
Back to Route 66 tomorrow...
