Rownd y Byd efo Helen a Fiona!!
Hello everybody!
How are you all? Today is our last day in New Zealand, so I thought I'd better update you of what we've been up to over the last few weeks! I left you last as we were arriving Whangarei in the rain, the only good thing about all the rain was that we got to see the Whangarei Waterfall at it's fullest, which was really good! From Whangarei we drove up to Keri Keri, on our way there we stopped at some caves, that were full of Glow Worms, it was really cool seeing them glow, there were hundreds of them!! We also stopped at the little seaside town of Paihia, which was really pretty, and as the sun (yes I said SUN) was out we even got to walk along the beach! We stayed at Keri Keri for a couple of nights, where we went to see an old Maori Village and an old Stone Store and Houses! There we also visited a lot of craft shops! From Keri Keri we drove up to Ninety Mile Beach! Here you could drive along the beach, rather than along the windy roads, but we decided not to drive our little van on the beach, just in case we got stuck!! The next day we drove to the Northen Point called Cape Reigna, here there was a light house, but the mist was so bad we could only see the light house from a few meters away! Had very bad weather that day! From there we headed south, we stopped on the way to see the huge Kauri Tree, it was really tall!! Then we kept on driving until we got to Dargaville - which was so quiet- So I bought the new Harry Potter book! This kept me entertained for 2 days! By then we had arrived Helensville, a very laid back town (must be something in the name!!) From Helensville we set off towards The Coromandel Peninsula and the town of Thames, Coromandel Town and Whangamata. On our way from Whangamata to Waihi Beach we stopped so we could walk to see the Cathedral Cove on the beach. These were amazing to see! We stayed at Waihi Beach for a night before making our way back towards Auckland. We stayed at Manukau, a few Km's outside Auckland, here we decided it would be a good idea to sort out what we are going to do in Fiji and find a place to stay!! Also we had the big job of emptying the van, and start packing our bags again! We took everything out of the van, and realised that we had so much stuff!! Even though when it came to putting all my things in my back pack, it doesnt look like much! So Saturday morning came... time to say good bye to Noah!!the end of a beatiful love/hate relationship! It'll be strange not being able to go where ever we want! So bye Saturday afternoon we were back in Auckland city (for the third time!!) and back to the joys of hostels and those dreaded bunk beds! Sunday we went up the Sky City tower, to look out over the City! Even though we are here for the third time it has been so different every time, the first weekend we were here, we were both missing Australia and the good weather, second time the city was so full of Lions supporters and the atmosphere was just amazing, and this time we know our way around, and feel quite at home!
We fly to Fiji Tuesday 2nd August, and hope that the weather will be good there! So we can lie on the beach and recover from the hectic 2 months we've had here! It's been good here, and very good timing with the rugby! It's been amazing!!
I'll be in touch soon, miss you all Fi xx
