Our last day together. We had a leisurely breakfast, then headed north to Devonport. John had already booked the caravan park there for the night, on a drive through site, so he wouldn't have to un-hitch and hitch again in the morning.
Our paths lay together most of the way, but we would have to veer off to the right just short of Devonport to get to Port Sorrel. We decided to drive together and stop at the Chocolate Factory again for morning tea before we went our separate ways. We would each settle in, then we would head back in the evening, pick them up, and have our last dinner together in Devonport.
As our turn off neared, we desperately searched for the Chocolate Factory but couldn't find it. It was closer to Devonport than we had thought. We came across a rest area with a banner saying "Coffee", which we considered, but it was too late - we had by-passed the entrance.
So we radio-ed each other and decided to give the coffee a miss. We continued up the road to Port Sorrel and found the GPS had done it to us again - it was leading us through tiny country lanes and windy roads that threatened to peter out into dirt tracks at every turn. We later found there were several ways to get between Devonport and Port Sorrel, and this was absolutely the worst. We could have continued on the highway with Faye and John further, and taken the next turn off down some decent roads. When will we ever learn?
We found the time-share resort, attached to the local golf club at Shearwater, next to Port Sorrel. Every apartment had a parking spot, but they were obviously designed for cars. Quite small cars at that. There was no way we could fit - too wide, too long, and impossible to maneuver in and out. We gave up and told the office, and they said we could park in the golf club parking. So we did - needing four spaces to allow for our width and length.
Then we had to pack all our things into whatever bags we could find to move into the apartment - we would be living here for a week. After settling in we decided to relax and try out the facilities - the pool and spa were glorious.
In the evening we headed back to Devonport, on a proper road this time, and picked up Faye and John. We had a little walk along the river, and then settled into a Thai restaurant for dinner. It was a lovely evening, but soon we were dropping them back to their caravan park, and saying our last farewells.
