The next day we made our way back up the eastern side of the Yorke Peninsula. Here there was a road that hugged the coast fairly closely, passing through a few small towns on the way. Now we were starting the Yorke Peninsula proper. The Eyre Peninsula is a big wide triangle with a road running down one coast and up the other. The Yorke Peninsula on the other hand is long and narrow and shaped a bit like a boot (like Italy). Whyalla is pretty much the last town on the Eyre Peninsula. We continued north to the very tip of the Spencer Gulf and around the corner, where Port Augusta sat. As we approached it we could see the waterway getting narrower and narrower, and the Flinders Ranges rising on the other side.
