We stayed for a night in a real small village near to the Hot Springs & then took the local bus to Sepilok. It dropped us off at the main roundabout & by lucky coincedence we saw a signpost for our hotel. Unfortunately it was 3 & a half km away. After climbing the mountain the day before & literally not being able to walk without lifting our legs up with our hands, this was quite sad news. The roads were dead quiet & the likelihood of getting a taxi seemed bleak. Luckily as we started to shuffle down the road two people that worked down in the hotels told us if we wait in a layby a taxi will come eventually, (altho we may have to wait an hour or more) we only had to wait about 10 minutes for one to come. It was about 3.30 & at 4pm the orangutans are fed at Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre so we "ran" down the road to catch that. It was really amazing. They have a massive forest & at feeding time, their food is put near a viewing platform so you can watch them eat. They also have long tailed maccaques waiting around to get scraps of the orangutans food. They are really funny & hang around upside on ropes eating their sugar cane. We were one of the last to leave & on the runway out there was an orangutan sat on the rail, we got really close to him. We thought we were so lucky to see that until we came out & had a look round the gift shop & when we cam out of the visitors centre there was one cheeky monkey that had escaped! He was hanging in the beams & the park keepers were trying to coax him down with a cracker but he was having none of it! It was so funny but we couldn't watch for long as I think he was playing up for us so we had to go so the keeper could get him down. They don't have any fences keeping the monkeys in, they normally just stay in the forest as they prefer it there. We had a one night stay in Sepilok & the next day was picked up to go to Uncle Tans Jungle Resort to stay in the rainforest for a night.
