We just had one night in Semporna as we were due to get a boat the next day to Sipidan to go diving. The hotel was so nice (well, it was clean & had hot water & a tv!) as the travel agent booked us a really nice place thinking we would need it after Uncle Tans but we were only there for one night & it was ok, just a mattress on the floor with a mosquito net, which is the same as some of the hotels we've stayed in!

On the boat trip down to the camp we saw some Probiscus Monkeys hanging out in the trees. They are the ones with the massive noses, apparently the locals call them the "Dutch Man" as they think all Europeans have big noses! We also saw some small black monkeys & lots of birds. As we got off the boat the other boat of guest said they saw Orangutans, which would have been excellent to see. They release them here after the rehabilitation centre ...

We stayed for a night in a real small village near to the Hot Springs & then took the local bus to Sepilok. It dropped us off at the main roundabout & by lucky coincedence we saw a signpost for our hotel. Unfortunately it was 3 & a half km away. After the mountain we arranged to go to the hot springs to ease our aching muscles. When we got there, it wasn't all that! There were loads of dirty baths to fill up yourself but we only had an hour there & they were really slow to fill up. Also they smelt like rotten eggs (but we were told that was the sulphur after thinking the drains werre overflowing somewhere!). OH MY WORD! We have never ever done anything so hard as climbing Mount Kinabalu. Apparently (according to the leaflet) anyone with average fitness can climb this mountain, well every single single person we spoke to said this was WRONG! Including a guy who had been to Everest Base Camp (who we beat to the summit I might add!). It was a 6km up to our guesthouse in the mountain.
