Waking up nice and early before the long day ahead! I had managed to get us a bargain deal to Khai Island, Phi Phi Don, and Phi Phi Ley, for the 3 of us. I was picked up about 7:45, and when I couldn't see Richard and Laura on the mini bus, I guessed they would be picked up by a different transfer, as their hotel was the other side of the hill! On the 30 minute journey, the clouds were looking mighty back, and it started to rain. When I arrived at the pier I could see Richard and Laura. We were issued with our bands, and allocated a speed boat, but waited for the rain to stop before leaving. We were given a safety talk before departing... This Thai guy was very camp, and made everyone laugh. My high light was when he asked if any girls or ladies were pregnant... As the speedboat was going to be bumpy.. He did this hand movement of the baby coming out... And said.. "Your baby will come out, whoosh, and we can't put baby back!" laughing at his own joke.
The rain had nearly stopped and it was time to board our boat, we were team pink, the colour of our bands, and boat 02. I had asked R&L if they wanted to sit at the back of the boat, in the shade, or up front where we are going to burn like a b****! Of course there was really no choice as we ducked under the dashboard and took our seats. There was space for 10 people up front and it was filled pretty quickly, the rain only spitting now, yet it was still hot. Riding up front was a family of 3 I would say from Italy, 2 Swedish girls, a guy from Japan, a guy from Russia, and us Brits! We all sort of chatted, as we were pulling away from the pier. Our captain slowly sailed out of the port, as soon as we hit clear water he put his foot down! The front of the boat raised up out of the water, and we zoomed through the water, at first it seemed quite calm. But it didn't last... We started to slam against the waves, everyone faces we're a picture as they were bouncing around in their seats. Everyone trying to grip on so they wouldn't slid around in their seats, I was sat just underneath where the captain. And I was getting crushed... It really was the worst 45 minutes, however I still managed to read my book. I wasn't going to sit here for the next bit. The first island we arrived at was Phi Phi Ley, I won't go on to much about it as I've already been here twice before. It was still full of tours. But it was nice to be here with R&L. Took loads of pictures, and went into the clear water. We only had a short time here. We drove around the corner and stopped at a snorkelling spot. Me and Rich got our gear on, and leaped in from the front of the speedboat. Snorkelling around the boat, by the area Laura was sitting. We had brought a loaf of bread in the morning, and Laura chucked it in, as we looked under water and watched the fish. I even held some bread, and the fish just ate it out my hand. It was pretty cool. Got back onto the boat, via the stairs at the back, whacking my side on one of the propellers under the water.! Ouch!
We then sailed around some of the tourist sights of Phi Phi Ley, which included the Viking caves, and a lagoon. We also stopped at this little beach where we feed monkeys bread! We chucked it into the trees where the monkeys would catch it and it would go straight in their mouths, a couple of them had a fight over the bread! We then jetted off to the Island of Phi Phi Don to have lunch, the Thai food was pretty good, and the fruit was amazing. The Swedish girls that sat up front with us, joined us at our table. Chatted about Sweden. before getting back onboard. The journey to Khai Island was about 45 minutes away, we were just all hoping that it wasn't as bumpy as before as our backs were already in pieces! Sadly it was even worse.. This time we all managed to get enough space so no one was crushed. We were still all over the shopping trying to hold on. Every now and then coming straight of the seat, and getting air time (as Az would call it!) watching people inside the boat laughing at us, the pain in our faces every time the boat smashed back down onto the water below. Everyone was laughing and joking around, but after only 10 minutes in, it had got boring, and we just sat in silence as event one held on. Everyone's spine taking most of the impact, going to need the painkillers for back pain tomorrow. Finally we made it to Khai Island. Laura chilled on a beach chair, and Richard and I went and did some more snorkelling. Yet again loads of fish, and after about 5 massive mouthfuls of sea water.. (As the waves kept going down the snorkel) we got out, not before I got dragged across a rock on my back because of the waves bashing against me.! It was nice to chill on the sand, and it was only 20 minutes back to Phuket Town. It wasn't as bumpy this time. But we did stopped, as the speedboat had ran out of fuel. But the topped up and we continued back to the pier. Non of us really that burnt, we got on our separate mini buses, and we would meet up later that night for a nice meal, and few drinks. (It did turn into more than a few!)
The plan was to meet at the Ozzy Bar at 8 o'clock. We had a few beers followed by a massive platter that we shared, it was very good. Of course after we had eaten, had a couple more beers, some of the football was on, that we watched. (When I said I watched, every 5 minutes or so I looked over at the Fulham-Everton game, and after seeing that Everton was sponsored by CHANG, Thai beer- I had to support them for the night!). It was time to move on, and we got tempted by a sign that said a bucket for 150 Baht (£3). You could have vodka or Thai Whiskey and any choice of mixer... Lefts just say after a couple of these each, the night started to get very messy. I have a lot of photos and videos as proof, the name of the bar we were at was called Silk. In the complex where we were there was about 30 different bars, and we had a top floor bar that over looked Bang-La Road. We played a few games with the waitress. I beat her at connect4.! Richard had some banter with the barman that was wearing a Man City shirt. After we left Silk we were all pretty smashed. And headed up the road for another bar. Me and Richard had a couple more beers, and Laura had Mai Thai cocktails! It was now getting on for one o'clock. After a stop at Burger King, I managed to get Richard and Laura in a Tuk-Tuk and walked 5 minutes down the road to my hostel. Not that I remember any of the walk, or getting into my room! Oops. I was sparko... z z z z z z
