I managed to sleep 10 hours sleep before my alarm went off. The dorm was freezing, as the air conditioning and fans were on all night! I had a quick shower and got ready for my day ahead. Today I had a 5km white water rafting day trip which included a visit to a monkey cave temple and a waterfall!
It took about an hour and a half to get the monkey cave temple, which was the first stop of the day! Its pretty much sums it up in the title, it was a massive cave that the local community had turned into a temple, and outside there were loads of monkeys.! You had to pay extra to get in, it was 20Baht, which worked out to be 40p, I thought I could stretch to that, and paid it and went in! The first thing that hit me was the smell of bat s***, it was discussing, i kept my time inside to a minimum, as I couldn't have just doubled back and walked out after paying that would have been rude! Took some pictures inside, and then left. Outside there must have been about 30+ monkeys all different sizes.! The baby monkeys were cute, all the local stalls were selling banana and corn on the cob to tourists so they could feed them, I just watched taking some photos, as the spare change I had in my pocket got me an ice cream! Then we got back on the mini bus, and headed deep into the jungle! Every now and again, you could see the river below, and knew we were getting close! Getting higher and higher up the hill. We arrived and had a safety briefing, it only lasted about 3 minute. I'm sure your all wondering, but yes they had a helmet that fit me, in fact it was actually to big! It was time to get in the raft, and head down the river.! As we got in a boat, l looked up steam and could see about 50 boats coming down towards our groups boats! We joined the mass of boats, and bumped and bounced our way down the white water track! (I had flash backs of the time us lads went to Bournemouth for a weekend a way and did water sports, I was on the middle of a Banana boat, and was the only one that came off!). It wasn't going to let it happen again, so I twisted my feet into the straps, tight! It was really good, we stopped every km and had a little rest, and out guide showed us the wildlife, including a massive frog!! Dirt. I'm not scared if frogs but when ones about 10cm away from your face..!
The time on the raft when really quick, and before we knew it, we were at the bottom of the 5km run, and jumped in 4x4 cars back to the main centre!
Some of the group headed off to do elephants trekking, but because I'd already done it in Chiang Mai, I didn't fancy doing it again. So we had lunch, more Thai food, it was a buffet style lunch, the food was tasty, but not the best I've had. We were able to chill out for a bit, enjoy the sun, have a drink.! At two o'clock, we jumped on the wagon, and headed to the waterfall. It was only a five minute walk from where we had parked it was a muddy path up hill to the waterfall. Walking in the opposite direction was a young Thai couple, the girl in a full blown wedding dress, and the guy in suit! It looks like they'd had their wedding photos up at the waterfall! There was a place you could jump in, about 4 meters above the pool, under the waterfall, I didn't fancy it as the water wasn't clear and you couldn't see what was down there. I was going to go for a swim tho, I got undressed into my swimming stuff, and put one foot into the water. Sod that, the water was freezing, not like the sea water, I did a 180, and was out of their like a shot! I just sat and watched the others in the group, taking some photos! It was now time to head back to Krabi Town, after a really good your, our Thai guide was called Alex, I'm thinking that isn't his real name! It was an hour journey in an air conditioned mini bus, and I chilled listening to music. Was back in the hostel in no time, and luckily I was the first drop off!
Started talking to a couple of guys in the dorm, Andy and Yogi. The hostel were putting on mass BBQ for everyone down stairs in the playground, so I joined the guys down there. I got arbitrated on the pool table! Had a few beers, BBQ food, & started talking to Kelsey and Mike from Calgary, Canada. Had a quality night played a bit of beer pong, and watched the limbo competition that was going on!
