It was time to leave the beautiful bottle beach, it has been so chilled the last couple of days, but looking forward to the next Island of Koh Samui. Our day started with the hellish transfer from the beach bungalows to the pier where we would get the catamaran. Yet again the road were horrible, and we bounced around like rag dolls! The trucks were up and down over the rocky terrain and I'm 99% sure everyone smacked their head at some point. It was about an hour before we arrived, and the catamaran was already there. Boarded but it was packed, so stood at the back watching Koh Phangan getting smaller and smaller, every now and then getting hit by the salt water that was spraying up front the front...! It was really hot, blue sky so it was nice to have the breeze.
Whoop, Whoop... Arrived in Koh Samui after about 30 minutes we pulled into the Hotel, it was more like a resort, pool, restaurant, free wifi! We had a meeting when we arrived and arranged what people wanted to do while we were on the island, as in total it are only on Koh Samui for 24 hours. I had decided on the island sight seeing tour, which would leave at 3, and the flying fox adventure tomorrow morning. (It a load of ziplines in the jungle)
I had just enough spare time to walk down the street by the hotel, and check out the local shops before we left. Loving the fact our hotel rooms has air conditioning. Met in reception and left on a minibus. First stop was a Buddha, it was massive, and located about 70 steps high! Walked around, wacking some of the bells for good luck... Then I heard a loud noise coming towards the temple... Getting loader and louder.. As I look up, a Thai Airways aircraft went over our head, it must have only been a couple of meters! Ha ha, ok maybe a bit more than that...! But it felt close. Walked to the other side of this tiny island to see some statues that belonged to a Thai fairytail, they all seemed weird characters. Next stop, the waterfal. After about 5 minutes on the van the rains started, and just stopped in time as we arrived at the waterfall. Only downside was all the rain poured off the waterfall, and turned the once clear water, a horrible shade of brown, everyone decided against the idea of swimming.. (officially the waterfall was a bit of a left down, due to the wash out!)
The last section on the trip was to see the grandfather and grandmother rock. These were rock formations, located by the beach, one resembled a guys manhood and the grandmother was a gash in the rocks, if you managed to get a picture at a certaint point, with the wash of the tide, it looked grimm. Also, couldn't get our heads around why people would want to see their grandfather and grandmothers rocks. Strange name... But of course had to take some photos. It defiantly wasn't the best tour I've ever done, and wouldn't be in my top 100. Lol.
When I got back to the hotel I had an hour to get ready, before dinner, I ran... I really did run, down the road at the side of the hotel to get my hair cut.. It's hard to tell them exactly what you want, when they have little or no English, but I think I managed it, and came out with a nice short looking cut, after I got her to do a couple of alterations. (A bit far for Chris to cut my hair!). Showered, changed, met the gang! Took one of the songthaw trucks to the town of Chaweng Beach, all 14 of us got in one, and my seat was the floor at the back, hanging my feet off the back and resting them in the step. It was fine until some crazy dude behind on a Harley Davidson was right up against my feet. At one point he even hit the metal of the step, it was like the guy from terminator, just waiting for him to pull out a gun. But eventually we managed to get him to smile, and then he drove off. Arriving on the main strip, there were loads of restaurants and bars, we ate in a place called the island. Really amazing chilli! Me and Tess had a quick game of pool, a it was free, and of course I won! My amazing pool skills. Not.
The jug of Chang I ordered didn't last long, and it was time for tonight's entertainment! The ladyboy show, as we arrived we were greeted by a couple of the what I will now refer to as "Ladies!" took us to our seats, it was free to enter but you had to pay for a drink that was 3 times the price. but if you only had one, it worked out a good price when it included the show. The lights went down, and the show started. Every diva you can think of they impersonated, Tina, Whitney, Beoncy, the list goes on. One by one the "Ladies!" would come on the stage with backing dancers which were guys, maybe hoping that one day they will be main stage in a dress! It was so funny, half of the acts didn't know what the words were exactly but the just mouthed the words that sort of sounded like the lyrics. I couldn't help but laugh. YMCA was done by only the guys, and seeing the biker just reminded me of Steve dressed up in Great Yarmoth! The show was about an hour and I think everyone enjoyed it. Of course took loads of photos and video's. After the show we were talking about where they actually keep IT, when the "Ladies!" are dressed up. Ha ha. After the show they all stand outside, thanking you for coming, but more importantly they wanted money to have pictures taken with them! Sadly I only had 1,000baht, and they weren't getting that!
It was time to hit the clubs, and by now I was dying for another beer, we walked down a street and found the green mango that we were told was the place to be! It was a cool club spilt into two, good music, the beer was a good price, and everyone enjoyed a bit of a dance! It was still early, and everyone was up for a heavy one. Our G-Adventures group meet up with a different group, and we all spent the night together, drinking and dancing. Even at 01:00 o'clock in the morning, it was still hot. It's not a secret that when it's hot, and I'm dancing I get sweaty.. But I've never sweated so much in my life, my back was drenched, I've never wiped away the sweat so much from my forehead. ( I know this will make Lisa and Bex laugh! because they have my technique down to a fine art!). Then out the corner of my eye I saw the stage, I don't need any encouragement, when I see some of the others making their way to dance on the stage! Of course I join them. Just thank god there wasnt any poles in sight. The night went so quick, and it was time for a quick run to the golden arches, before leaving. It was 4 am when I got back to my room, laid my head on my pillow and was thinking about the hangover that I'm going to have tomorrow while doing the flying fox... Z z z z z z z
