Following on from Fraser Island we headed to Brisbane, another 5 hour coach journey! but as we reached Brisbane disaster struck as we discovered that EVERY hostel in Brisbane was fully booked and after walking around Brisbane for a couple of hours the cheapest place we could find was the hotel Ibis at a mere $135. It may not sound expensive but we're on a bit of a budget and that was equivalent to 6 nights at a hostel! Still it was really good to have a bit of luxuary and we made the most of a decent bed and had an early night.
The next morning we were up early ringing every hostel in Brisbane. Luckily we found one even if it was bit of a dump. It was alot cheaper than the previous night.
We decided that walking around Brisbane would be a good idea. Its a nice city but it is just the same as any other city.
Next was Australia Zoo, former home to Steve Irwin. We saw our first kangaroo there as well as all of the other ozzy wildlife. We fed Kangaroo's, held Koalas and an alligator! It was a really good day and well worth doing.
We then moved onto Surfers Paradise, which is Australia's equivilant to Magaluf and left two days later. It was ok, expensive and the weather was crap but apart from that we we're glad to be moving on to Byron Bay. Sarah left the camera at surfers paradise, but the hotel has it so we will have to go and get it...
