Today has been our busiest day so far with 3 school fairs in as many cities. At 9am our first school of the day was Battle Creek Academy. Battle Creek, Michigan, is widely known as the "Cereal City", and is the world headquarters of Kellogg Company. It's also where Ellen & James White and the Seventh-day Adventist Church in 1855 initiated an extensive missionary and health education evangelical ministry, established one of the largest printing and publishing houses in the United States , sponsored colleges and medical training institutions and founded a health care facility which became the largest institution of its kind in the world. We visited the Adventist Historic Village as well as the Oakhill Cemetery where John Harvey Kellogg and the Whites are buried. See the pics.
P.S. We saw the funniest thing as we were driving towards Oakhill Cemetery; this cat bolted across the road in front of us with a foam cup stuck over its head. We couldn't help but laugh even though we didn't know how long it had had the cup stuck over its head. Anyway, we pulled over and got out of the car to help it and were able to catch it after it ran into one of the car's (stationary) tires. It looked unharmed and once the cup was removed from its head it seemed to enjoy the freedom of being able to see again before quickly bolting away out of sight!
By 1.30pm we were at Grand Rapids Academy, Grand Rapids, MI, and were there for about an hour before we had to head NW towards Great Lakes Academy, Edmore, MI for our final fair for the day which was from 5-7pm. Great Lakes is a mint looking school and the students were super energetic about us being there. We even got to try out their caf food and were thoroughly impressed!
