Last night we left Colorado and made it to Rapid City, South Dakota, which is home to Mount Rushmore and the Crazy Horse Memorial. Bismarck, North Dakota was still about a 6 hr drive from Rapid City and we had to be there by noon, so it meant our sightseeing at Mt. Rushmore was brief. With a bit of luck we'll get a chance to stop in another time and get a better look!
So we made it to Dakota Adventist Academy, Bismarck, ND and had a great reception from the students there. After the official visit, one of the staff at the school gave us a full tour of the school. If you can imagine, from an aerial view, the school looks like a giant insect! The main building in the centre houses the administration offices, the library, the church, and the auditorium and gym, while the classrooms and dormitories protrude out from the main hub. Because of the schools location and extreme climate during the winter months it was built so everything could be under one roof and fully self-contained.
