This morning we made our way along to Camelback SDA Church, which is located just south of Echo Canyon Park (Phoenix Valley) - and home to Camelback Mountain. It became pretty clear as we drove near how Camelback Mountain got its name...the shape resembles the hump and head of a kneeling camel!
The Church put on a potluck lunch following the service, but we had met up with Allison Atkin (PUC recruiter) afterwards and she invited us to her home for lunch. It's hard to pass up a fresh home cooked meal when you're used to eating out for every meal, so we happily accepted Allisons offer...thankyou Atkins!
In the evening, we were once again invited along to hang out with Allison, and her sister Angela, their folks, and a few of their friends at a place called Organ Stop Pizza in Mesa, Phoenix. This place is hands-down the most unique restaurant I've ever been to! As they say, it's home to the Mighty Wurlitzer - the world's largest theatre organ (powered by three turbine blowers) that rises up from the ground with a spritely character onboard playing everything from classical music, to movie themes, to happy birthday, and everything in-between. The organ, with its nearly 6000 pipes, and accompanied by numerous percussions, countless traps and effects, lights, and other novelty features, which include bubbles from the roof are all part of what makes this place amazing.
If you're ever in the Phoenix area and you're looking for something to do on a quiet night, go check out Organ Stop...the pizzas aren't bad either!
