The Grand Canyon, with its 2,5 Km, multicolored rock walls, craggy cliffs, and sandy slopes, is the most amazing site we have seen on the trip so far. Unfortunately Monday saw a weather front move in so our enjoyment of the magnificent views of the Canyon from yesterday was not to be repeated. On our return from the 'lookout' Jared was pretty on to it and discovered somewhere along the way we had picked up a nail in one of our tires. Fortunately this is a common occurrence in the Park and we were able to go to the Park Garage where we got a patch for the ridiculously reasonable price of $15. Certainly beat changing out a tire in falling snow. Speaking of snow the Higlands of Arizona are receiving a very liberal dosing of snow due to some storm fronts sweeping in from the Pacific giving California it strongest storms since '05. The Valley is due to recieve over the next day or so, not a lot by storm standards but for the region is a massive amount, in the entirety of 2009 the received 3.9 inches of rain. Tusayan and Grand Canyon are expected to up to 12 inches of snow tonight, which may make it interesting for our departure in the Morning. Due to the zero visibility in the park we had a pretty low key day of checking out the Visitor Centre, the Book store and the Park General store. We also saw the National Geographic Grand Canyon Imax movie, this movie is the most watched Imax of all time and certainly provided some spectacular views of the Canyon and some very interesting history on Human Kinds 12,000 year history of interaction with it. We took a few more snaps which can be found in the Grand Canyon album, this provides some interesting contrast to the shots from yesterday.
