Saturday morning here, thought I had wrote part my new blog but its not there. its the operater possibly it will turn up when Ive finished this.
Yesterday 6 of us went on a boat trip in the morning, as now I have passed my lessons over I was free. The boat took us to Phonom Da, 40 mins on a boat that was brilliant as it was so cool. Water is a bit like the Nile, not what you want to jump in. !!!! When we got there we had to pay 2dollars to get on the island, then pay a little boy as a guide.
We had to climb, climb, climb till we came across a really old temple built in the 4th -6th century as normal amazing how they build it right up so high. Luckily we took Mary with us (good Englishname) for a Cambodian. Think she is about 23 runs a little shack !! with parents and has never been there so invited her along, it worked for us as she could ask the questions. We lit candles and had our thoughts for loved ones here & passed. Quite emotional, my hormones are shot, I reckon.
On the way back down visited the village, it was very rural, kids playing cards, home made kites etc. clothes were not an issue here. But got some great pictures. We all got drinks, cold I must add. Mary asked them how they were cold said they have ice sent from Vietnam. !!!!
Possibly why I love it here ice everywhere you go, they didnt even have running water or electric odd. Must have a generator. But it was a great experience, had a great couple of hours, needless to say caught the sun. So have a little bit of tan going on. mary enjoyed her time we all chipped in as she couldnt afford to go.
When back went to the market to finish shopping for the little ones . Success bought the two boys school uniforms , play clothes & pants there waists are only 20 inchs so a little bit big, but they wouldnt let us take them off them to take them in. There where gleaming from ear to ear, worth every penny to see there little faces. Plus got extra pants for the smaller girls, got little Shreynang a type of play suit. I wanted to run of with them never have I seen children so happy with clothes.
Sou the farmer come helper, was over the moon to and helped the little ones, he is 23 he made me cry calling me mum to them all, bless. Also the cooks are great friends of mine. I would bore you if I went into it all.
But I am going to miss this lot, cryed yesterday knowing Im coming back. They hugged & kissed me kept asking the date of return. Very emotional.
I was made friendship bracelets and we had a laugh I said if they keep on making them I will be covered in them. This project has far more effect on me than Peru strangely. Yes I would love to bring some of them home. Which even surprises me.
Well after a sad farewell to the kids, came back packed etc. Going to leave a bag here as I dont need to carry everything with me. Have requested to come back to the same room, as its the only single one. But after last night not sure, it is a really hot room with two fans going its unbearable. Never mind aircon tonight.
What will I miss here, the comaradie, kids of course, ice, my single room, my bike. ( bought a lock) so still here when I return. just the whole feel of the place. All the staff at this guest house & orphanage. Plus when you are cycling all the kids shouting out hello, feel like you live here.
What I wont miss is the heat, not getting my cupper, think that wont happen till Im home. dirt & dust, dodging the animals on the roads.
Phnom Penh here I come, get that room chilled, four of us going so we are going by Taxi only 5 dollars each, bus is 2dollars but we splashed out.
