FARFRUMWURKEN
Today's been one heck of a day. We were up around 9ish and got down to opening the presents. The kids seemed to do pretty well, getting most of what was on their individual lists. Later in the afternoon we got into sports mode on the Wii with the grands. We've played so many events today, frankly I'm pooped.
From Frisbee Golf, Basketball, Table Tennis, Golf, Bowling and even Jet Skiing. - I don't think that I have done very well, given that I haven't held a controller in my hand for at least twenty-five years. Both Joe and Joram have this down to the point where it's virtually a third appendage.
Later in the afternoon, we took a walk up on the ridge. I didn't realize just how big 86.5 acres are when you start to walk the property line. We took out the metal detector with us and ended up finding some pretty neat fragments of old pottery, ceramics and canning jar lids down by the creek from what could have been an old cold cellar or out shed for some of their perishables many many years ago. Joe took us up the ridge to a very old barn or shed that was in itself pretty cool with hand forged beams and crude nails. We're not quite sure what the purpose of this was to be, way up in the woods but someone years ago put quite a bit of effort to put this structure up in between all the trees.
The weather has been very changeable since we've been here. One day sweaters and another we're in our shirt sleeves. On night we stayed glued to the local weather channel because there were tornado warnings all throughout the area. The house is situated in a valley which helps to eliminate the treat of any strong tornado's because it would have to get up over these high ridges and then down into the valley.
