FARFRUMWURKEN
We woke to sunshine in Bradyville this morning. It's so nice not to have to sit in the driver seat of that U-Haul. I'm so done with long trip to the south, we're both glad that we're here.
Because of the detour delays that we experienced yesterday just outside of Memphis we got into the Murfreesboro area in the dark. While we had some detailed directions from Keli how to get to the house it was pretty interesting finding the house.
We pulled off the interstate and headed down Tolbert Hollow Road. As soon as we got off the main road onto Tolbert Hollow, we encountered fog. Not just regular fog - pea soup fog that was with us for about 5 kilometers. I was just about to ask Deb to get out on the hood and yell directions but thought better of it. Thankfully we had GPS, so it gave me a little advance warning for this twisty and turny road.
We had specific instructions, but in the dark those kind of go out the window. Seems we missed the silo on the left, the mailbox and whatever and ended up driving this 20' truck down the "one" lane road about 1,000 feet too far. That's when Deb's choice of words cannot be reproduced here.
Given some 3,000+ miles now, I truly believed that I was in the "master trucker" category and could very easily back up this long-box'd truck down the road until we can see the right mailbox.
Thankfully Keli's high beamed flashlight started to show in the distance and walked/talked me back to home base. TOUCHDOWN - we have arrived without one blemish on the rental (that will of course help us on checkin) or ourselves for that matter.
After a delicious dinner from Chef Joe, we proceeded to unload the antique bed, mattress and beddings from the truck so that we'd have somewhere to put our head for the night. I've heard about people who bring a pillow with them on holidays, it gets pretty serious when house guests bring their own bed.
As I say, we had a good night sleep and today all that's left is the tail. We need to unload the truck with plans for some of the stuff to go in the house and the rest into their barn. It was so great to see everyone last night, I think everyone was anxious to get a hug after so many years. Joram, Kaelyn and Lillie got a "get out of school pass" today because we're here so we'll have a few more hands to unload than when we loaded this sucker.
This is all I've got for now. Thanks for tuning in and I'll keep you updated on our time here in the Volunteer State.
