Today is our last day in Holland. Around mid day we rode our bikes up to the petrol station and bought some snacks. Then rode back to what has become our picnic spot, a park bench on the edge of the bike lane that looks out into the paddocks. I ate my ice cream and chippies while enjoying the sunshine. When we got back to Heidi's I started organising my suitcase. All my washing was dry so I took my clothes off the drying rack and starting packing. I wasn't even half way through before I got over it, so decided to read my book for a bit and ended up falling asleep. When I woke up Paul's NZ oma, Marie was visiting to say goodbye to us. We went and sat outside on the outdoor furniture underneath the trees. We decided we would go for one last bike ride since it was our last day. When we returned we bought the gift box downstairs and gave it to Heidi and Frans. I had put the money in the gift card for the Greek dinner, but Frans just handed it straight back to me. I've decided I will just hide it and tell him as I'm leaving in the morning. They really appreciated the gift and said thank you. Just as I bought the gift basket downstairs Heidi was coming back from picking up Chinese take aways so we went outside to eat dinner. Linda and the kids came over from next door to have dinner with us too. We all sat around the table chatting and eating. The two twin girls are still really shy around us, one more so than the other. They think it's scary that we speak English all the time. They're both really cute and both are very tall. They've only just turned six, but you would think they're at least eight. As we ate dinner hot air balloons flew over the house. Tonight was the last night of the balloon fiesta. The kids were excited and kept waving out. One group were low enough to see the kids and waved back. Throughout the night more of Paul's family came around to say goodbye. I think Hesta and her friend were the last ones to arrive sometime after 10pm. She's sixteen and really wants to come to New Zealand when she's eighteen. She's always bright and bubbly. Paul has been teaching her some kiwi slang. After everyone had left I went upstairs to finish packing and organising the last of my things. Before I went to bed I set my alarm for 5.30am. That would give us an hour in the morning to get ready before we had to leave for the airport.
