This afternoon Heidi and Frans took us to the markets. It was a really sunny afternoon so we had a wander around the different stalls and then bought an ice cream. After the markets we came home and relaxed for the rest of the afternoon. Frans cooked dinner this evening. We decided that it was such a nice evening that we would eat outside. It was quite ironic that the weather was still so good as there were weather warnings out for tonight. After dinner we all went out to the balloon fiesta. It was about a fifteen minute drive from Heidi and Fran's house. We paid €3 to park in a large paddock. After we met up with another family we walked to the entry to buy our tickets. We walked down a long, dusty lane that was lit with light from the lanterns that hung from the trees. A large canal bordered the area where the hot air balloons were so we had to cross over a small bridge to get inside. At this point we had to show our tickets again. I was really excited because I've always wanted to go when they've had a similar annual event in Hamilton, but have never gone. They had three balloons being filled with hot air at a time. Paul and I decided to walk around to the other side so we could see the other balloons too. We took lots of photos and then bought some hot chips and I bought an ice cream. My favourite balloon was the bright orange Garfield balloon. As the night went on the bad weather that had been predicted started to set in. The skies became dark and stormy, we even saw some flashes of lightning. We left before the laser show because there was still at least a half hour wait (we had already been waiting for awhile) and it looked like it was going to pour down. I really enjoyed our evening out though. It was a lot of fun.
