Today Heidi and Frans took us for a day trip to Rotterdam. It took us a bit over an hour to drive there, so slightly further than to Amsterdam. When we arrived there we parked the car and went on a river cruise. The river cruise took an hour and a half. When the bar opened the boys ordered a beer and the rest of us bought ice creams. The boat we past apartments, the Euromast and a lot of shipping containers! Rotterdam has one of the largest ports in the world. After the river cruise we walked up the street and through the park to the Euromast. The Euromast is a tall building that has a restaurant inside. You take the lift up to reach the restaurant. I ordered a satay chicken kebab, with rice and veggies for lunch. Laille and I also shared a small bowl of nachos because we couldn't decide what we wanted for lunch. Frans and Heidi refused to let us pay for the river cruise or our lunch which was a bit embarrassing! We thanked them though and will think of something nice to do for them to say thank you before we leave. After lunch we went up to the next level. Here you can go in a small room with glass windows that then goes up to the very top. You get a really good view of the city, but it's a bit scary. Everyone walked up the stairs to queue up for this part. I got really scared walking up the stairs because I could see inbetween them. So I ended up taking the lift to get to where everyone was waiting in line. Before we left Laille and I had a look in the shop and bought some more bits and pieces. Tomorrow when I go into Amsterdam I'm going to post a 10kg box home because we have accumulated way too much stuff. I fell asleep on the way home and now I'm just sitting outside in the sunshine eating M&Ms with Laille. No one is really hungry at the moment, but we might help Heidi cook some salmon later. They don't have the same range of fish in Europe. We normally have snapper or terikihi once a week at home so am missing NZ fish. Looking forward to a kiwi roast and BBQ when I get home too. It's funny the things that you miss when you're away from home.

Mum The roast will be all ready for you when you get home I promise. Must be lovely to be spending time with Laille as I know you have really missed her since she has been living in London. You will feel sad to leave her again xx
