We had another quiet day today, which was nice. The farm cat came into the house again this morning. He's always looking for treats so I gave him some of the Whiskers snacks that Heidi and Frans keep especially for him. I think I gave him a few more than he normally gets given though. After lunch Paul and I went for a short bike ride down to the petrol station. Paul had to help me with locking my bike. There's a key that sits in this metal box by the back wheel. You have to take the key out of that and then unlock it again when you come back. I bought some Dutch lollies to take home. I really don't like the salty ones, but hopefully the ones I bought are sweet. They're kinda like licorice I guess. We also bought ice blocks. We rode back towards Heidi's house, but Paul spotted a park bench on the way so we stopped to eat our ice blocks. Then we continued riding home. We both fell asleep this afternoon. When we woke up I helped Heidi prepare dinner. Paul has been going on about missing burgers so Heidi cooked hamburger patties and we had those with sliced, fried potatoes and salad. I had a piece of chicken instead of the meat patty though. The salad was really yummy. It had shredded lettuce, a mixture of cashews, walnuts and cranberries, fresh grapes, pickled onions and was tossed together with a honey mustard dressing. Then we had pudding after dinner. Paul's cousin Hedda came over for dinner too. He's about eight years old. I offered him my pudding cup so Paul and I shared one. It was a berry flavor and came with a delicious berry sauce too. They're kinda like upside down pudding cups, but we just ate it straight out of the container. Everyone has gone for a bike ride to watch the soccer. I'm still getting used to riding the bikes here so didn't want to go too far. I was happy to stay here anyway. There's not much on animal planet. I thought I was on the right channel, but it looks like a wedding programme. A couple of the TV channels like Animal Planet are in English so we can watch those. They just have Dutch subtitles. I think I might have a shower soon and go to bed and read my book. It's almost 9pm now. Oh, I forgot to mention we had some good news from Dad this morning. I got the rental property out at Matarau that I wanted. The property is set on an acre and a half of land, has three bedrooms, two bathrooms and we're allowed all of the animals. I'm really looking forward to living in the country again. Dad timed it and it's only ten minutes from his house. Will be interesting to see how long it takes to get to work in the mornings, but I'm sure it won't be too bad. There's a bedroom, ensuite and lots of storage upstairs so I think Paul and I will have that bedroom. Paul is going to build a boxed vegetable garden and maybe a small one to plant some flowers in too, or I might just buy some pots for the flowers. The land is pretty barren so could do with a bit of colour. Anyway better go and have a shower. Will write again tomorrow.
