It's 6.55pm and we've just arrived at the President Hotel in Greece. We caught a taxi from the airport, which cost €38. At first the taxi driver seemed a bit grumpy, but he thawed out during the drive and was quite chatty in the end. His English was pretty good as he lived in Australia for nine years. From what we have seen of the country so far it's really dry. There's a lot of red rock and soil, shrubs everywhere and most of the buildings are either white or a sand stone colour. The hotel staff here are really friendly and helpful. We thought we might have to check out tomorrow morning and then check into a different room, but we just have to go downstairs at 12pm and will be re-checked into the same room. We don't have to meet the Contiki tour manager until 7pm tomorrow night so will have a free day tomorrow. I'm not sure what we're going to do though. We left Heidi and Fran's house at 6.30am this morning. Danika and Bernard (Paul's oma's partner) drove us to the airport. They had to pick Henk, Paul's uncle up from the airport at 8.00am so it worked in quite well. I found the airport quite confusing and was a bit stressed out because my suitcase was 3kgs over. It worked out okay in the end because we just moved some things into different bags, but I was a bit worried. The flight from Holland to Frankfurt was meant to take an hour and fifteen minutes, but it felt like we had hardly been in the air before it was time to descend again. We had about a two and a half hour wait at Frankfurt before our next flight. We had some lunch and a look around the shops to waste some time. The time didn't drag nearly as much as we thought it would. I had a really yummy panini for lunch filled with zucchini, capsicum, tomato and cheese and raspberry gelato for dessert. I also bought myself some perfume at duty free. I think that is the first time I have ever bought myself a perfume. I had run out of baby doll not long before I came to Europe so decided I would have a look for something different. I can never find a perfume I like though as I like the really light ones, nothing too strong. I ended up buying one called Fresh Blossom by DKNY. I think I might have heard of the brand before, but I'm not really sure. It's a New York brand. I bought the 100ml which is normally €66.00, but was down to €46.20. I'll have to work out how much that is in NZ dollars, but I thought even if I doubled it that it wasn't a bad price for a 100ml bottle. At the hotel there's a restaurant, bar and swimming pool upstairs so we might even just go up there for dinner. To get into the centre you have to catch the Metro and I'm really not that keen on that tonight. I'm going to try and use the wifi and then might get ready to go and explore the hotel.
