On Sunday when we arrived in Burgos we headed to Cathedral Square. It was abuzz with locals and pilgrims having lunch, enjoying the glorious spring weather. We watched as pilgrims arrived after a days walking, being awestruck by the beautiful cathedral, greeting other pilgrims, who have shared their journey so far, with hugs of joy to be here.
Sunday’s in Spain are amazing, families gather together and have long lunches and then it all shuts down around 3.30pm for siesta. It starts up again around 8 for the evening. They think nothing is eating delicious pintxos and drinking red wine late into the night, especially when there is a football match to watch.
As we headed out for the evening (from our nice hotel) we noticed we were next to a church (not hard in this part of the world!). On entering we found mass in progress. We stayed and even though it was in Spanish, it can be understood and was a nice way to restart our Camino.
We love the food - true Tapas or Pintxos in this area, every small dish delicious, and the wines not bad either.
