Last day in Spain - Santiago - Finisterre- Santiago
Today we took a day trip by bus to Finisterre. This is approx 90k and a lot of pilgrims walk this as their official end of the Camino.
The name Fisterra comes from Latin FINIS TERRAE, meaning "Land's End".
The Romans named it thinking it was “the end of the earth”.
It is on the Costa da Morte (Galician: "Coast of Death"), named because of the large number of shipwrecks along these shores.
On a good day like we had, it is a pretty coastal fishing village on the Atlantic Coast. It was so very calm and the water incredibly clear. We think it would be a different story on a bad day.
We had a good meander around. Found a cute cafe where we had sardines and bread, so simply delicious.
A bit more walking before a delicious lunch overlooking the harbour.
We saw Linda from the USA with her husband Jessie and brother David.
The full bus, both ways, was all pilgrims. We certainly support this part of Spain and its economy.
