Day 16/31 Biduedo - Samos
Headed off at 0800 and a lovely walk to Triacastela. We saw Max & Anthony having a say off, and David and Suzzane.
We passed through a quite a few small villages. The real difference since leaving Villafranca is the type of villages. They seem very much farm working villages. Stock get moved around regularly through the villages so there is s*** everywhere! The villages are less likely to offer services ie COFFEE! So today thinking we would have a couple of breaks on our walk from Triacastela to Samos - we didn’t. Each village we passed through was quiet, some like a ghost town. The upside was it was a beautiful walk. Quaint peaceful tree lined tracks. Because we have taken a diversion to Samos - to see the Monastery, it is quieter anyway. On our 18k journey today we only encountered/or passed by 6 other walkers and maybe 4 cyclists in a 6 hour period.
Apparently we will be in shock when we reach Sarria (tomorrow). From then on its like SH1. A lot of people start in Sarria, as to gain your Camino “Compostela Certificate” you only have to complete the last 100k from Sarria. We will see.
We are staying at an amazing place tonight. An old but modern place with beautiful bedrooms with ensuites and a great common area kitchen dining lounge and garden. But we have it ALL to ourselves. Hence we took the chance to cook dinner and stay in. Yum yum. Especially when the Spanish red Tempranillo from Rioja is only €3.19 from supermarket and that was the expensive one. LOVE NORTHERN SPAIN!
Breakfast €5
Supermarket €6
Monastery visit €10
Supermarket for dinner €9
Bed €40 and amazing!
