Emma & Fuzzy's Travels
Hi folks! It's Friday night and the Kings Cross is even more lively than usual! We have discovered that to the right of our hostel is where all the 'w****s and comic singers' (as my mother used to say!) live and to the right is where the more refined people live. It is actually a really nice place and it seems only to be divided by an invisible line. We've had a busy few days job hunting and Fuzzy is being head hunted by several recruitment agencies. I, on the other hand, am not! Never mind, I'm sure I'll adapt to life as a beach bum... We've both got a couple of interviews next week, so I suppose it still feels a wee bit like a holiday just now. In saying that, we have hiked for miles every day, so it's not like we've been doing nothing! I have been forced to purchase new shoes (2 pairs of) and other items of clothing in order to keep up with our busy lifestyle - it's hard, but I'll try to cope!
We done the open top bus tour to try to get our bearings a little bit, but to be honest it wasn't really that good. Fuz has got a map permanently attached to him so he is better than any bus tour! Part of the tour went to Bondi and we both felt that that area is more our kind of place - laid back, nice shops and boutiques and a boozer or two. Don't think we will be able to move there though because of where we are likely to land jobs, but we'll see.
Had a night out with people from the hostel on Wednesday night and got a little topsy. It was 3 dollars for a rooftop BBQ and a beer, then all the beer after that was 2dollars a go (2 dollars is about 80p). When the beer ran out we went to the boozer across the road. The upstairs smelled of sick so we stayed downstairs! The booze wasn't cheap in there and we were half cut so we didn't stay that long. The folk we were with were grand. Plenty of craic and all up for a laugh, so that was good.
We spent today at the Coogee beach and have got a few good photos from it. The beach was nice and Fuzzy said the water was too. Not as hot as in Tioman, that's why it took him 3 attempts to get in! I however, just soaked up the rays. It is still hot here, despite the fact that all of the shops have woolly scarfs, hats and jumpers in them and the Aussie's are wearing coats!
I am aware that my photo gallery is slightly lacking, but i will definitely try to get stuff uploaded next week - promise! I have to figure out how to do it and, let's face it, I'm no IT expert (not like Ally N anyway!).
So the plan for tonight is to go for another hike, then get a nice tea at the wee Italian up the road. The food is lovely, it's cheap and it's a bring-your-own-bottle, so we won't be breaking the bank! We still haven't quite mastered hostel living and like I say, it still feels a bit like we're on holiday so eating out is acceptable! I'll get away just now, because I'm actually meant to be emailing my c.v. to recruitment consultants instead of updating the blog! Good to hear from everyone on the message board - keep them coming!XX
