Arrived in Koh Tao yesterday. The journey was good with a lovely/fast coach ride from Krabi to Surat Thani port. After a short wait we all boarded the catamaran....my first experience in one so I was excited. As expected, the journey was smooth and that feeling of rising up out of the water was very cool. Ooooo also met the special effects artist that created Red Dwarf's Kryton and all the spaceships, Jurrasic Park, Moulin Rouge, Star Wars, Spitting Image. How good is that! As we arrived at Koh Tao pier we were inundated by offers of taxis. I waved them all off knowing that on this island the prices are very inflated. Instead four of us clubbed together and all got in a taxi as the inflated fixed price stings less if it's split. Anyway straight to Ban's Diving resort. The open water course was paid for and my room allocated. It sucked. I complained...politely of course....and a new room with air con will soon be mine! Anyway. Met up with Angela who had made friends with a couple of Dutch girls who were lovely....and the evening passed with laughs and stories. I'm loving this.
The course starts today, only theory in the evening but practical pool training starts the day after. The last two days are in open water so I'm very excited....and a little nervous....who wouldn't be breathing underwater! Ha!

Brenda Hi Son! Thanks for that update. Must tell you that you were on a Catamran from Stranraer to Larne with your cousin Bruce and sister Hannah. The sea was too fierce so our journey across to Larne was delayed and then poor wee Bruce was a bit sick with the crossing but it was probably all that pizza we had prior to sailing. Anyway it's good to have company and laughter. I note the name Angela pops up from time-to-time? You are obviously enjoying the socialising and that's brilliant. Oh! don't settle for s***ty accommodation ugh! Be safe in the water!
