So after my PADI wobble/fail I was feeling pretty rubbish. Sooo wanted to see the sealife and baby sharks. By chance I bumped into one of the girls from the PADI course that I quit. The guys were going snorkeling in Ao Leuk and would I like to come. I of course had to go. We jumped in a cab and after a crazy truck ride across the island we arrived at our destination and picked up some snorkel gear. I was feeling pretty apprehensive to be honest as I have tried snorkeling before and struggled; worrying too much about water coming down the snorkel. I was really surprised to find that I was able to do it with ease with the breathing and mask skills I learnt from the PADI course! The experience was AMAZING! I was in awe of the plethora if beautiful fish! Shoals of shimmering minnows darting this way and that. As I worked towards the corals I suddenly found myself surrounded by larger reef fish of a multitude of species. Colours shimmering and changing in the sun; black and pink, ghost white, rainbow fish, yellow and black neon blue, neon pink, and long and thin silver fish. The list goes on and on! What was truly amazing though were the several foot long black tipped sharks! UNBELIVABLE! Effortlessly gliding through the water below me. Perfectly formed and so efficient in their movements. I followed one for 10 mins hoping to see it hunt and whilst it followed a few of the fishes it clearly wasn't hungry. Soo beautiful. It was amazing. Words can't describe. Maybe I'll try my PADI again!
