So the Sunset Tour began with an adrenalin rush! The taxi (barely) was clearly inspired by this weekends Chinese Grand Prix.....average speed mental! We arrived safely however at the designated Jetty and after a short wait we departed! 1st stop Reilly Beach to pick up more passengers. It really is a beautiful location. The jungle covered limestone cliffs and outcroppings constantly impress. After taking in the views we headed of to Tup Island! Now that was spectacular!!! Truly! The water was crystal clear and the sand bar joining the island to another slowly emerged. After an hour of swimming with the Tiger Fish and chilling in the beautiful sand....we did a little run to Chicken Island for the obligatory photos! Shortly later we headed to another stop to swim and snorkel with the fish. My first time so trying to convince myself that it's ok to breath underwater was soo hard...but I managed it....just! Fish everywhere but the water was quite dark and deep so the experience was limited. Very glad I was able to do something new however. Following this we headed to a isolated beach where we enjoyed a lovely Thai BBQ. chicken, prawns, and watermelon. Their chilli sauce dressing was quite possibly the best dressing I have ever eaten. Plates in hand we are silently as the sun set changing from gold through to red before disappearing. Then the fire dancers started and as always they impressed, but on this occasion we were watching from a distance and to the background music of the XX we sat in silence and took it in. We were also lucky to experience the evening exodus is of countless bats, which just like Pitch Black, filled the sky as soon as the sun disappeared.
Last stop was back to Reilly to swim with the plankton. I was sceptical because I expected to see luminous plankton from the boat but you needed to get in the actual sea. Snorkel. Mask in hand. In I went......WOW!!! There is no way I will ever do this justice in writing but as you dipped you head and moved your hands the darkness was filled with a million luminous green 'stars'! The faster you moved, the brighter they got. It was incredible! I'm so glad I got to see it!!
