Whistlestop visit to Bangkok for three nights. After a stupidly long journey, 19 1/2 hours stupid via a night boat and coach I arrived at Bangkok Coach Station. Jumped in a Taxi Meter and headed to the hostel I had chosen. Amazingly the 21km journey it cost 146 Baht (c.£3). I was amazed at how big Bangkok was but also how the wealth so obviously towering across the skyline is surrounded by poverty and filth. I arrived at the Bodega hostel and was really impressed with the facilities and management. Run by three American brothers the place had a great vibe and was full of cool travelling types. After a quick FB chat with Laurens I hopped in a cab and headed over to the Khosan Road. After a cheeky couple of drink we headed to a bar called Levels in the City. Quality bar but loaded with tourists and high class working girls in equal measure. Ignoring the latter we had a few drinks (expensive) and saw my birthday in with a smile. The highlight however was as I was getting home at 4am a taxi pulls up and out jumped Bryant, Jamie and Charlie! They'd come all the way from Koh Tao to celebrate my birthday. I was so chuffed! They checked in to my Hostel and the plan was set for the Khosan Road the following day. We spent the day chilling and explored a local mall (Plaza 21) which was very western but quirky with themed floors I.e. San Fran / London etc.
Gareth joined us at the hostel for pre-drinks and then we headed to Khosan Road. Met Heidi, Lauren and Todd and got started......scorpions, buckets, balloons and some s*** dancing. The following day the hangover sucked! Ha! I'll never learn!
