USA Travels
It is 2140 and most of the group are tucked up in bed. The two litres of beer and Thai Red Curry have so far not taken their toll. We have acquired one individual in the group who wants to organise everyone. He has not yet recognised that if he says black, before long Ruth and I will be saying white. However his wife is sweet and we may well put up with him for a bit longer. We have enjoyed a great meal for peanuts and the stewards have made up our beds. Things look clean and fresh, however, it ain't BR and the carriage rocks wildly at times. Those who know me will understand that motion just makes me want to go to sleep. I am not sure it will tonight. We will see. We have both booked onto a cooking course tomorrow. This is so that when we get home, I can cook and Ruth can tell me what I am doing wrong! I am going on a 30k bike ride the day after tomorrow while Ruth goes shopping. I have just looked over and Ruth is asleep. Picture to follow. ALL I CAN SAY IS THE NIGHT TRAIN WAS A FANTASTIC EXPERIENCE SO EAT YOUR HEART OUT MICHAEL PORTILLO. IF DAVID TELLS YOU HE DIDNT SLEEP I WILL TELL YOU I HEARD HIM SNORING ALTHOUGH THE RUMBLE IF THE TRAIN DID USUALLY DRONE HIM OUT, Bangkok has been great with all sorts of things to see and people to watch. The Palaces are very sumptuous and while many seem to live a very hand to mouth life, our guide, Noodie, says there is no shortage of cheap food. Some last minute thoughts: I am now in my own little world surrounded by green curtains and have just realised that a fall from this bunk could seriously damage my health. Clean undies tomorrow! Let's hope these bloody tablets don't make me want to pee all night. Bed now before I get thrown out of this bunk. I have just noticed a strap. I must remember this strap is my friend. This strap is my friend. This str...........! Not the best nights sleep.but an exiting experience nevertheless. Needless to say Ruth slept like a log and still heard me snoring! HE DID LOTS! WE LIKE CHANG MEI ITS A SHAME WE ARE NOT HERE LONGER AS THERE IS A LOT TO DO AND SEE - NEVER MIND. THESE LAST FEW DAYS HAS SEEN A FLOWER WITH FLOATS ALL MADE OF FLOWERS VERY PRETTY. (Ruth falling asleep here) I'M OFF FOR A MASSAGE IN THE MORNING NOT SHOPPING EVEN THOUGH DAVID HAS CHICKENED OUT IF THE BIKERide. WE THINK WE MAY BE OUT OF WIFI REACH IVER THE NEXT FEW DAYS SO ALL MAY BE QUIET ON THE ASIAN FRONT FOR ACFEW DAYS. (By now you will recognise Ruth's expertise with the keyboard) Chiangmai is very busy as there is a flower festival on at the moment. Went on the cooking course which was great fun. And we eat what we cooked. Went up above Chaingmai and went to the nicest temple yet. Ruth fancied the monks after failing with the soldiers yesterday. Another fine meal and a few beers and now we are back at the hotel.

Mary and Sean Home from Egypt to pouring rain and gale force winds. The blog is true to form!! Has Ruth 'nailed the man who is trying to organise you yet'!! bet it wont be long before the blue touch paper gets lit. Love to you both and take care xxxxx
Diane Reynard Glad to hear you are both ok. The sleeper trains sound a little to be desired but the hotel looked lovely. Cookery school - that sounds interesting. We have all read the blog so far. Keep it coming. Look after each other and enjoy! Love from us all in Darley. Diane x
Philippa Yes, is lovely to read your blog & David so eloquent...with words. The sleeper train looks a lot more upmarket than the Indian ones. Wish i was there with the group.x
