USA Travels
Had a Thai massage this morning.....first one for nine months. The Thai lady who did me had hands like vices and stood less than five foot tall. He'll did it hurt. Hopefully it will have got rid of all the aches & pains built up after the flight. She seemed to find every muscle that hurt and focused her full attention on it. Forget the death penalty, just put this lady on the case. For the record, Ruth had a foot massage! Spent an achy morning at the Chaing Mai flower festival before a long drive to Chaing Rai to see the White Temple. Onwards then to Chaing Khong on the border between Thailand and Laos. Many will remember Ruth's comments about the hotels I stay in for 30 euros while on my bike tours in Europe. All had indoor plumbing. Wallpaper and mechanically locked doors. Tonight's accommodation lacks all of these, as well as carpet. There is a fridge, TV, aircon and a fan all surrounded by a subtle blend of concrete. We are still in Thailand. What will tomorrow bring? Up at six tomorrow to get to the border crossing by 0730 to avoid the queues. All probably escaping from the nightmare of last nights bedroom. Down the Mekong for the next two days so no wifi. Will be in touch. Ps. Forgot to mention the ceiling. Concrete!
