Gidday again The weather in Perth was very very hot climbing to above 30 deg and up to 35 deg most days but it was the arrival of all those pesky little flies that made being outside unbearable for too long. The packing up and cleaning of the van took more time than we expected but all was achieved within the days we had left. It was sad to say goodbye to our lovely camper and home for the last 6 months as we put it into storage in Perth but we knew the carers would look after it and start it up every month to charge the batteries til we return some time next year.
We arrived at the airport early next morning at 8am for our 9am flight to Melbourne and were informed that our flight had been cancelled. They told us that if you book flights through Webjet you won't be advised by Webjet of any changes. However Jetstar had confirmed our booking and sent us emails several times so we feel they should have been the ones to advise us. They rebooked us on the next flight 3 hours later and gave us a $50 voucher for breakfast which was ok but things just seem to get worse as the day went on. Steph's croissant she ordered for breakfast was burnt nearly black and the waiter couldn't speaka de lingo so it took quite a bit of effort to get it replaced. The flight was delayed by a further 3/4 of an hour and our pre paid shuttle fare at the other end was non refundable with no later shuttles. With the time difference and a 3 and a 1/2 hr flight time arrival time in Melbourne was 7.30pm so with a long bus and train trip to get to Mornington it was around 10.30 when Alina picked us up at the Frankston station for the 20 min trip to their place. Perhaps we are just not used to relying on other transport methods beyond our control but it was a very long stressful day that we did not enjoy very much.
