We picked up our Toyota C-HR and started to navigate our way out of Oslo, which was actually quite easy. Signage was good and the traffic was not chaotic at all. Pretty much on a freeway almost instantly, and we were going well until I veered right! We managed to get ourselves back on track and from there it was plain sailing. We discovered that most towns are bypassed, and there are very few options on the freeway for food and drink. As such lunch was from a petrol stop, but it was surprisingly good. Soon after we came across our first stave church, something that was definitely on our to do list. Unfortunately we were unable to go inside but nevertheless it was an amazing structure. We hadn't booked any accommodation for tonight as we wanted to get as far as we could because the following day would feature lots of sightseeing stops. We managed to find a very traditional Norwegian "motel" in Bismo. In a nearby restaurant we had a great feed of fish and chips, washed down with a South Australian chardonnay. Who could ask for more. The scenery along the way had been great, with some similarity to the scenery of the Canadian Rockies. All in all a long but enjoyable day.
