After our earliest start yet we touched down in Helsinki mid morning. A train ride into the city, more cobblestone streets to be navigated with suitcases and we arrived at our hotel. Much to our delight we were able to check in immediately. A short rest and we headed out on an exploratory tour. Like most Scandinavian countries, and due to the abundance of water, boating is very popular. Marinas dot the coast and there is no shortage of boats. Day 2 and we moving early, as we had booked ferry tickets to Tallinn in Estonia. A miscalculation on the tram meant that we only just made the ferry. If you can call it that. Nine decks, duty free shopping mall, poker machines and countless restaurants and bars. Two hours later we artived in Tallinn. It has a history that goes back centuries. A little like Gamla Stan in Stockholm, it is a rabbit warren of twisting cobble stone streets, and historic buildings. Charming to walk around but a bit hard on the feet and legs. We had booked ourselves on 7.30pm return ferry so had a very relaxing day checking out the sights and people watching in the town square with some cold refreshing drinks. Day 3 was going to be long as our flight to Singapore was not until 1.30am the next morning. So we had a relaxed start before we headed out. Walked to the Cathedral and the Rock Church, which was essentially constructed by quarrying into rock and then putting a roof over it. Late in the day we had booked a tuk tuk ride around Helsinki. We were the only passengers and got to saw many things we had not seen along with a commentary. Great experience. And so the European leg of our trip comes to an end. Next stop Singapore
