After about 40 odd hours of flying and airports via Singapore and Helsinki we finally arrived on Copenhagen. A former exchange student of mum and dads, along with her husband, picked us up from the airport which was a lovely way to arrive in a new country. After a quick lunch they dropped us at our hotel. A quick nap was required before we went on a little exploratory tour around our local area. Copenhagen has a typical European feel,, with the architecture being what your expect in this part of Europe. The weather was unusually warm and a cold beer in a little town square sure hit the mark.It was early to bed that night. The next day some friends flew in from Scotland. The weather was miserable, so we opted to do a hop on hop bus tour which gave a good overview of the city and certainly got us to places which we may otherwise not have had time to see. As well as the traditional architecture there is some stunning examples of modern buildings. And the number of bicycles is amazing. I think I read some where that 60% of people ride to and from work. And they take no prisoners.walk in a bike lane and you are fair game. The next day we visited Rosenborg Palace, the gardens that are attached, watched a small troop of guards perform their daily march from their barracks to Amelionborg Palce to guard the queen and did a canal cruise. All interesting and good fun. A f8nal night we our friends and we were then getting prepared for our 40 minute train trip the next morning to Malmo, Sweden.
